Make your workplace or school community official
If you're on your institution's team, add one DNS record to make its community official and host it.
Updated October 11, 2026
Workplace and school communities on Let's Get Coffee are often started by the people who work or study there. When the institution's own team is ready to run one, they make it official by showing they control its domain. Whoever does that becomes its host.
Before you start
- Find your institution on Get started under "My workplace or school".
- Confirm an address at one of its domains. If you signed in with a different address, the page sends a 6-digit code to your work one.
- Have someone who can change your domain's DNS settings ready. Adding the record takes them about a minute.
Make it official
- 01On your institution's page, under "On {name}'s team?", select "Make it official". If you aren't a member yet, this adds you to the community.
- 02The page shows "Add one DNS record at" your domain, with a Name and a Value. Use "Copy" next to each one.
- 03In your domain's DNS settings, add a TXT record with that name and value. The record is yours alone: someone else making the same claim gets a different one.
- 04Back on the page, select "Check the record". New DNS records can take a few minutes to show up. If it isn't there yet, the page says so, and you can try again.
- 05When it's found, you'll see "It's official." Select "Open your host console" to set up the community.
The record works for 7 days. After that, start again to get a new one. You can remove the DNS record once the community is official.
What you can see as its host
- Settings, branding and invitations are yours from the first day.
- For the first week, you see nothing about members. The page tells you the date that changes.
- After that, you see who's a member, and how people connect from the day you made it official. Never anything from before: who met whom and when people joined stay with them.
Members can leave the community from its page at any time, and their connections stay theirs.
