Start your community

Start a community on Let's Get Coffee, open your setup link, and get it ready for your first members in a few minutes.

Updated October 10, 2026

A community is the home for the people you want to bring together: a company, a school, a cohort, an alumni network, a club. You start it, you become its host, and you decide who joins.

Start it

  1. 01Go to Get started and choose "I'm starting one".
  2. 02Fill in your name and your email. A work or personal address are both fine.
  3. 03Name your community and pick what kind of community it is. You can also say roughly how many people you plan to invite.
  4. 04Select "Start my community".

Most of the time your community is ready straight away, and the next screen says so. Sometimes a person on our team finishes setting it up first. Either way, watch your inbox for your setup link. A person on our team also looks over every new community after it starts.

Open your setup link

  1. 01Open the email called "[your community] is ready for you on Let's Get Coffee" and select "Set up [your community]".
  2. 02Sign in. Use the email address the link was sent to, so the community knows you're its owner.
  3. 03You land in setup, ready for the next part.

Set it up

Setup walks you through a few short steps. Everything after the first step has "Skip for now", so you can come back to anything later.

  1. 01Select "Start setup".
  2. 02"How should people see it?": check the name and add a one-line welcome, then "Save and continue".
  3. 03Add a picture and a cover photo if you have them.
  4. 04Choose who can find it. You'll only see this step when there's a real choice to make, like listing it for people at your work domain.
  5. 05"Invite a co-host": add someone to help you look after it, if you'd like.
  6. 06When it says your community is open, choose "Invite your first people".
