Why building relationships is harder than it looks

There is probably someone, not far from you, you would genuinely enjoy knowing. A future friend. A mentor. A collaborator. A neighbour you have never met.

Those relationships almost never happen. Not because either of you doesn't care. Because the road from stranger to friend is a series of small steps, and every step adds a little friction.
